The Art of Being Thankful: Inspirational Quotes on Gratitude

For most of us, the only time we show any sort of gratitude is on holidays such as Thanksgiving or Memorial Day. We give thanks for the things we have received in our lives over the past year and give thanks to those who have helped us along the way. But what happens during the rest of the year? Are we not grateful on a daily basis?

Gratitude or the art of being thankful should be part of our daily lives, not just something that is reserved for special occasions. When we have gratitude for everything in our lives on a daily basis, our mindset changes, our attitude changes, we become focused on the things that matter most but most of all, we open ourselves up for better things.

Free Printable Reward and Behavior Charts for Children

Are you having difficulty motivating your child? Are you having issues with your child's behavior? Or are you looking for ways to teach your child a sense of responsibility and accountability? My question to you is this, "Have you ever considered reward or behavior charts?"As parents, we ask ourselves these questions everyday and everyday we hope and pray that these questions will be answered. However, we fail to realize that as parents we must be set the stage to encourage and motivate our children to display proper behavior, be responsible, contribute to the family unit and be accountable for their actions. By charting expected behaviors and tasks, setting goals and rewarding your child for a job well done, you are setting up expectations and holding your child accountable for achieving them.Reward and behavior charts are amazing tools for parents and teachers alike. They help their children set goals, give them the steps they need to achieve those goals and reward them for reaching their goals. These charts can be used for anything from potty training, to chores; to homework to good behavior ... if you have a goal, there is a chart for you. Since most children are visual learners, these charts are a great way for children to see their progress.

Want to make millions? Break the rules!

Break the rules, says Russell Simmons on CNBC's The Big Idea, to make millions.

As I watched this evening's episode of The Big Idea, I was amazed by Russell's interview with Donny Deutsch. I always thought that he was a brilliant man, he has to be to of created a billion dollar empire, but to hear him speak was not only motivational but inspirational as well. To make millions, one has to "break" with tradition, become creative, and tap into uncharted waters.

But Russell Simmons spoke more than just how to make millions, he explained the personal attributes one needs to be successful. This hit home for me as his philosophies only reinforced what I have been reading. Being of service and being happy are key components to gaining riches. I've heard Jim Rohn and Napoleon Hill, to name a few, speak of this. Russell Simmons put this knowledge into everyday language and was so easy to understand and relate to. He is certainly a role model for today's generation.

I close today with some advice and motivation:

Money doesn't make you happy, happy makes you money - Russell Simmons

This can be extremely frustrating and you find yourself constantly defending your child and explaining why your child does what he or she does or does not do. I say this because this has been my life for the past seven years.

Helpful Tips in Raising a Child with Developmental Delays

Early Diagnosis - Early diagnosis is key. This enables you to begin the process of getting help for your child. If your child is under the age of 3, most states have an Early Intervention Program that provides therapeutic services - Speech, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Sensory Integration - and is free of charge. Some pediatricians believe that you should wait until the child is 3 to diagnosis any developmental delay. If you feel that there is something really wrong, push for an evaluation. A Developmental Pediatrician can tell you exactly where your child is developmentally.
