Want to make millions? Break the rules!

Break the rules, says Russell Simmons on CNBC's The Big Idea, to make millions.

As I watched this evening's episode of The Big Idea, I was amazed by Russell's interview with Donny Deutsch. I always thought that he was a brilliant man, he has to be to of created a billion dollar empire, but to hear him speak was not only motivational but inspirational as well. To make millions, one has to "break" with tradition, become creative, and tap into uncharted waters.

But Russell Simmons spoke more than just how to make millions, he explained the personal attributes one needs to be successful. This hit home for me as his philosophies only reinforced what I have been reading. Being of service and being happy are key components to gaining riches. I've heard Jim Rohn and Napoleon Hill, to name a few, speak of this. Russell Simmons put this knowledge into everyday language and was so easy to understand and relate to. He is certainly a role model for today's generation.

I close today with some advice and motivation:

Money doesn't make you happy, happy makes you money - Russell Simmons
